Cancer Detection Technologies - Phase I

Awarded as the first part of an STTR Fast Track grant from the National Cancer Institutes´ flagship program, " Innovative Molecular Analysis Technologies," the Vitatex project: “Cancer Detection Technologies” aimed to prove the utility of the Vita-TechTM platform technologies on gastro-intestinal cancers, particularly diseases of the pancreas and the colon. This Phase I project demonstrated the proof-of-principal for the Vita-TechTM platform technologies as a clinically useful assay for detection of gastro-intestinal cancers .

Gene Expression of Viable Ovarian Cancer Cells - Phase I

In this National Cancer Institutes´ STTR Phase I application, we have optimized and validated a novel and rapid cell separation technology for enrichment of viable metastatic tumor cells from the ascites of patients with ovarian cancer. The approach yields highly purified viable tumor cells and tumor-associated leukocytes. This project provides a proof-of-principle demonstration of usefulness of Vitatex’s rare cell isolation technologies in molecular analysis of cancer gene signature.
